About Body Imaging

body-imaging.jpgThe UMMC Department of Radiology's Division of Body Imaging is comprised of a group of board-certified and unspecialized radiologists in thoracic and abdominal imaging with the goal of providing the best patient care possible and fulfill the high level of expectation of our referring clinicians.

The thoracic component of the Body Imaging service is an integrated service that encompasses all modes of thoracic imaging. The staff is responsible for all conventional chest and abdominal radiographs, all thoracic CT, and thoracic MRI.

The abdominal imaging component is responsible for imaging procedures of the abdomen and pelvis including radiography, GI and GU fluoroscopy (such as barium enema and voiding cystourethrography), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The ultrasound division of Body Imaging also offers world-class ultrasound imaging services with cutting-edge ultrasound equipment including Doppler and soon sonoelastography. We provide ultrasound service for the University of Mississippi Medical Center as well as for our outpatient clinics and hospitals in Lexington, Pavilion and Select Specialty Hospital. Our faculty also reads the ultrasounds studies from UMMC Grenada.

Our service is fully digital and integrated with clinical departments of oncology, GI, GU and pulmonary medicine as well as with thoracic surgery, urology and GI /hepato-biliary surgery.
